Mike will certainly be missed. I’m so glad that he took the time to speak with me in February.

Although he really didn’t need to, Mike kept up with the latest research in reconfigurable computing simply because he loved the topic so much. During our latest conversation, he went on and on about how much he was looking forward to “finally having time to work on some of his own FPGA projects” now that he was retired. Tragic, but I know he is in a better place now.

I first met Mike at the first FCCM in 1993. He was a brilliant and friendly person and I will miss him. During my PhD I worked in FPGA-based emulation and Mike’s Quickturn work set a high standard. I will remember him for his quick wit, pleasant and insightful conversation, and incredible technical knowledge.
